Every day my child fills my world with joy, and I am grateful for every moment I share with him. I look forward to each day by challenging myself to learning something new. Reading gives me the strength of good thoughts, enlightens and inspires me to write. I am forever willing to help and share a smile. To be associated with a cause of empowering kindness around us by discovering the light and love within will certainly be a rewarding experience. I do hope we connect in some way and come close to realizing our true potential.

the tree of hope - a short story The Tree of Hope – A short story kindness360 dropcap I 150x150t was a warm sunny summer day. The soft rays of the sun fell on the freshly mowed grass. The lilies and dandelions swayed to and fro in the gentle breeze. Nearby, a slow stream of water moved lazily through the rocks creating a melodious sound. The trees were lush green and the blooming flowers boasted of their lovely color and fragrance. The birds and squirrels seemed to be enjoying their awakening to this beautiful day. All appeared happy and gay.

But there – right in the centre of this luscious field, stood a lonely tree. It was a tree that bore no leaves, fruits or flowers. Passersby often remarked, “What an odd tree. Look at its long curvy weird looking branches!”

And so, day after day, this lifeless tree stood by itself in such a beautiful field, with sorrows of its own. For you see, no one liked being close to this particular tree. It was such a gloomy tree. But it had a dream – to be filled with all the vibrancy of life, just like the other trees it saw around.

One day there was a kids party in the park. The children were having a nice time playing, when one of the kids’ decided to do something really different. The thoughtful child had this idea to decorate the lonely bare tree. All the kids gathered their party decorations and began to hang them on this tree. Colorful balloons, sparkling spirals of red, blue and green were put on the tree. Lights were put up. Pretty dazzling stickers were stuck on its trunk.

Everyone got excited at the fine development that was happening with the tree. Soon, the tree started to get noticed. Everyday more kids would gather and express their creativity on this tree. The tree began enjoying this new found attention. The branches were colored in bright colors of pink, fluorescent green and yellow. The tree looked stunning. It suddenly became a rare centre of attraction.

Many children began playing around this colorful tree. A play area was also built. The kids loved climbing, swinging, sliding from the tree’s uniquely shaped branches. It was a wonderful play object for the kids. More people started visiting the park just to see this gorgeous tree. And, in no time at all, there was an abundance of life and activity around the tree.

Things certainly did change for the good.

The tree was no longer lonely. Its wishes had come true. It was full of splendid colors and each day had the joy of life from all the kids’ laughter and play. They named the tree – ‘The tree of hope’.

Just a small thoughtful gesture miraculously changed the tree’s fate. In the same way, believe every person is special in his/her own way. Each of us has all the abundance of life within ourselves. Every person we come across may be fighting his/her own set of battles. Let’s be kind and have a feeling of respect towards all. Why be judgmental when we bear the capacity to transform people’s life in amazing ways. Our world would be truly beautiful if we realize the purpose of life were to help one another grow and realize their true distinctive potential.
